With the 90's and the fall of the wall the BHM took a change. Instead of it being a primary African American event other African Diaspora communities started to participate. This was intiated by Black Media Acess e.V, Europa-Afrika Kulturzentrum e.V, Harambee, Peoples Art Ensemble, Intiative Schwarze Deutsche, Umoja Africa Center. The belief was that the world was changing and we as people of colour had many things in common and many bridges to build. We had dreamed BHM would inspire us to work together all year and that within 20 years it should be an institution in Berlin inspiring us all to keep on keepin' on. Now it has become an event that includes many organizations working together to educate and build a firm foundation for future generations to stand proud upon and build on!
